Republic of Moldova participates for the first time as a guest of honor at the international exhibition Arvinis 2018 that took place in the city Montreux, Switzerland. Our country was represented by 14 wine producers united under the national brand “Wine of Moldova. A legend alive”.
At the official inaugural ceremony of the exhibition, the representative from our country of the World Commerce Organization, Corina Cojocaru, stated that “wine is one of the Republic of Moldova’s jewels, the true ambassador of art and craft of vine and wine that passes beyond any limit and portrays the maturity, values and hospitability of a nation.”
The guests and wine experts had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the touristic circuits around Moldova, vine and wine tourism, gastronomy, culture, all made available through advertising materials as well as virtual tours of the country’s main attractions presented by the Agency of Tourism.
The World Wine Exhibition from Switzerland programme enabled both the professional as well as the consumers to participate in wine tasting activities, professional wine presentations, and master-classes organized by experts in the vine and wine domain, oenology and tourism. At this event, the director of the National Office for Vine and Wine, Gheorghe Arpentin, managed the event “Elegant wines from Moldova”, where guests could taste distinguished white and red wines made from two national varieties, Feteasca Albă and Feteasca Neagră.
The representatives of the Republic of Moldova’s Embassy in Switzerland invited the exhibition participants to visit the country’s national stand, where the high-quality wine products of our country were represented – Gitana, Agrici.Wine, Maurt, Pelican Negru, Timbrus, Cimislia Wineries, Bostavan, Purcari, Vinăria din Vale, Doina Vin, EtCetera, Fautor, Asconi, and Cricova, not only demonstrating the virtual tours of the underground galleries of the prestigious cellars of Republic of Moldova, but also discovering the touristic locations around the country.
This exciting event, now at its 23rdedition, gathered together 200 wine makers from the entire world who exposed over 5,000 high quality wines from five continents. Republic of Moldova’s participation in Motreux was made possible with the support from National Office for Vine and Wine’s (ONVV), the Organization for Attracting Investments and Export Promotion from Moldova (MIEPO) and the strategic partner, the Project for Competitiveness in Moldova financed by the USAID and the Government of Sweden.
