The National Office for Vine and Wine will launch the first catalogue dedicated to the gold-awarded Moldovan wines in 2018 – “The Golden Wines of Republic of Moldova”. The initiative comes as a result of the impressive number of gold medals – 190 – awarded to the Moldovan winemakers at 28 international competitions, along with other 300 silver and bronze medals, as well as distinctions. The catalogue will be launched on the 18th of April at the XVIth edition of the Wine Vernissage and visitors who want to learn about the 108 wines that have made our country famous abroad, will be able to discover them by consulting it.

Gheorghe Arpentin, director, National Office for Vine and Wine: “Last year the track record of Wine of Moldova was completed with about 500 medals and awards obtained in competitions all over the world – a record-breaking number for the product of national pride. We have conceived this catalogue as a confirmation of the efforts made by the key players in the sector, culminating in a new generation of wines, whose quality we can see is more and more appreciated on the foreign markets, proof being the number of prizes increasing from year to year. We are confident that domestic wines will continue to conquer foreign markets, and the ‘Wine of Moldova’ brand will remain the most representative ambassador of our country outside its borders.”

The participation of the wineries in the competitions and exhibitions was supported by the National Office for Vine and Wine and the strategic development partner – The Moldova Competitiveness Project – funded by USAID and the Swedish Government. 40 wine companies in the country who have showcased their still wine, sparkling wine and divin samples, have obtained the maximum ratings for product quality from foreign jurors. As a result, the country wine brand “Wine of Moldova” completed its record with 488 medals, obtained at the following international competitions:
