On a global level, Moldovan Wine is achieving more and more successes, of which we are proud. You can discover in the images some of the performances that bring us fame in the world.
We invite you to share impressions, stories and tastings at the 22nd edition of the National Wine Day, on October 7 and 8, in the Great National Assembly Square!
During the visit of Mrs. Florence Maffrand, Head of Wines Partnerships and International Patronage, representative of the Cité du Vin museum in Bordeaux, France, we discussed the possibilities of promotion and partnership for winemakers from the Republic of Moldova. We enjoy the occasions when we host guests from abroad and we have the opportunity to present them the character and story of Moldovan wines.
As one of the most prestigious wine museums in the world, as well as a space dedicated to exhibitions, seminars, performances, film screenings and other wine-themed activities, with over 500,000 international visitors annually, the collaboration creates an opportunity to promote us quality wines, as well as the country as an attractive destination for wine tourism at the international level, opening new perspectives for the development of the Moldovan wine industry.
Moldova’s wine revolution
The history of viticulture in Moldova began millennia ago.
In recent years, Moldovan wines have brought a real revolution to the market, being increasingly appreciated and sought after internationally.
In 2022, a wine from Moldova was named the best red wine in the world at the “Concours Mondial de Bruxelles”.
In 2013, a structural reform of the sector established new and transformational standards for wine quality and regulation. More and more winemakers have begun combining historic native varieties with modern winemaking practices to produce high-quality wines with authentic and unique character.
The effort has been rewarded with more than 6000 medals won in prestigious international competitions in the last five years. These successes are a testimony to the work and vision of our winemakers, who have transformed the Republic of Moldova into a fascinating wine destination.
The Decanter publication analyzes the success, but also the challenges that Moldovan winemakers have faced on their way to fame.
